I hope that the following information will be of assistance to owners who may be concerned or confused over the issue of water meters. From what we understand so far from our discussions with Aguas de Benahavis and with the various administrators, the situation is not consistent across Los Arqueros and the following are some examples of this:-
A. Water meter installed:- villa owners and residents of Los Almendros (for example) probably already have a water contract in place with Acosol, the contracts will simply be transferred between the existing supplier and the Aguas de Benahavis. The required documents will be as follows:-
Copy of last invoice
Copy of NIE/Passport Number
Bank Account Number
Email address (for future electronic billing) – optional
B. No Water Meter Installed:- this situation applies to most properties at Los Arqueros. However, there are two different circumstances:- owners in possession of a “boletin” (water connection certificate) and those without. Owners of properties in Las Jacarandas, for example, will/should find a copy of the boletin with documents relating to the purchase of their apartment, i.e. the escritura (title deed). In the case some other urbanisations, El Lago for example, the boletin appears to be in the possession of Taylor Woodrow (to be confirmed) and not with owners’ escrituras. In these cases we have spoken to Aguas de Benahavis and they are pressing Taylor Woodrow to locate and to release the boletins. The necessary documents will be as above, plus Aguas de Benahavis will require the following:-
Copy of property title deeds (apparently a copy of the Nota Simple will suffice)
Copy of the boletin (see preceding comments)
To date we have organised two transfers where meters are currently installed and one where there is no water meter, but there is a boletin. The process is fairly straightforward and the staff of Aguas de Benahavis have been very helpful. Fluency of our team in Spanish has probably helped considerably.
At the moment we are concentrating our assistance for the next 10 days on our managed clients at no charge as we consider this to be part of our service to them. No doubt other management or key holding companies will be providing a similar service. Once we have resolved our own clients’ situation, we shall be happy to assist other owners at Los Arqueros, if they are experiencing difficulties, at a nominal charge.
